This week a delegation of the United Nation visits Karamoja to talk about developing aid. The delegation visits several projects of international and local developing organisations. Among which Kalas girls, the school that acts as “rescue centre” for girls on the run from circumcision and arranged marriages.

Making necklaces and relaxing in the girls’ shelter
In Amudat we and “Hope for the Children Foundation” support vulnerable children and youths. The number grows rapidly. Mainly girls on the run for circumcision or an arranged marriage know where to find us. In August another 17 grils were added to the group. Once at school, the girls can no longer go back home safely.

What do we give the children to take to school?
At the beginning of the school year, new students get a big metal box, full with school necessities, sleeping gear and toiletries. The box has a lock so the children can keep their belongings safe at school. The hand out of the new items is always a great event! But what do we actually give the children ?

Update: covid-19 in Uganda
Meanwhile the number of Covid-19 cases in Uganda has increased to 3,667. At this moment there are still 859 active cases. 1,608 Persons cured from the virus. According to data from the Ministry of Health, 33 persons died from the virus.
