Esther (13) suffered severe burns as a baby when she had an accident with fire. She burned her right arm and both hands. Unfortunately, her family had no money to take Esther to the hospital. Now, 13 years later, Esther is sponsored by CCA. We also help her with treatments at CoRSU, a hospital specialized in the care of children with disabilities.

On our website, we publish articles about Karamoja. News, stories about the community, culture, economy and development. But we never wrote about the beautiful and rich nature in Karamoja. Karimojong women have appealed to the government to ban widow inheritance, a common practice in the sub-region. The women say they are being bound by their culture to marry their late spouses’ brothers as a way of compensating for  the bride price paid to their  families.

Spina Bifida is also known as an “open back”. In a baby with Spina Bifida, the vertebrae are not closed properly and the spinal cord is open. This can cause paralysis, incontinence or hydrocephalus. Read the story of Namunu from Kaabong, Uganda.
